[ARCHIVED] County Departments and Elected Offices Modifying Interactions With Public

logo

Many county services, departments and elected offices are open but are modifying the ways they interact with the public.

Assessor At this time the Assessor will not be open to the public. Notary and primary residency services are the bulk of counter business. All questions regarding Primary Residency can be done by phone or online.

Attorney

Civil Division: All hands on deck working either physically from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or remotely via phone and email. Physical staffing of the Coalville County Attorney’s office will be on an as-needed basis.

Criminal Division: At least one lawyer will be physically present in the Justice Center County Attorney’s Office at all times. Paralegals working both in office and at home depending on our court demands. Investigator working remotely and ready for call outs.

Victim Advocates: Both victim advocates are working remotely unless needed for call-outs or a specific court proceeding.

Children’s Justice Center: The Children’s Justice Center (CJC) is fully operational, sanitized and providing services to children and families and our MDT. However, the Director will be working from his home in Wasatch County unless there is an interview scheduled at CJC.

Animal Control Business as usual at this time

Auditor We (the Auditor’s office) will be operating normally unless further restrictions are put in place. If telecommuting is warranted, we will be working remotely. We would prefer that the citizenry call us with questions as opposed to coming to the office.

Community Development (Building and Planning) Due to the recent Summit County Declaration of Emergency relating to the Covid-19, the Community Development Department, which includes Planning and Building will no longer provide in person assistance over the counter. We will continue to be available to assist and answer questions via phone calls and emails. Please call 435-336-3124 or email mhardy@summitcounty.org for further assistance.

Children’s Justice Center Business as usual at this time

Clerk The Clerk’s office is suspending all passport services and marriage license applications effective immediately for 30 days. We will re-assess the situation in 14 days. In-office hours have been reduced to 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Monday thru Friday. All employees can be reached via email as they are working from home when not in the office. All phone calls will be forwarded to cell phones.

Engineering Engineering has closed the front door to match Building and Planning. We will still be doing inspections, answering phone calls and email correspondence. We are trying to maintain our scheduled meetings, however, we’re trying to do them via other methods (Skype, Microsoft teams, Go To meetings, etc.)

Finance Due to current conditions related to the COVID-19 virus, local guidelines to observe “social distancing” and Stay At Home orders, the Summit County Financial Services Department will be working remotely with limited in-office hours from March 30th until May 1st. If you need assistance, please contact members of this department through email.

Health Department Services are limited. Please call ahead for availability.

History Summit County History Museum has been closed until further notice.

Human Resources Business as usual at this time

Justice Court Due to COVID-19, the Justice Court has postponed court hearings until April. Any hearings scheduled before that time will be rescheduled. During this period of time, warrants for failure to appear will not be issued. Existing payments can be made by paying online. If you have a pending matter that needs immediate attention, or you’re an out-of-state or out-of-country worker who needs to be seen prior to April 1st, please contact the Court by calling 435-615-3802 or emailing justicecourt@summitcounty.org so we can individually address your concerns.

April hearings will be reviewed in the next few weeks. Notice will be provided if those hearings will be postponed or rescheduled.

The Justice Court is still open and operational. While hearings have been postponed, Court staff will still be available to answer questions and collect in-person payments.

Any further questions can be directed to the Court by calling 435-615-3802 or emailing justicecourt@summitcounty.org.

Information Technology We are planning to stay open, but will offer telecommuting. If the public has requests for maps, we would prefer those that can’t find it online to call GIS first before coming to the office.

Library

After careful consideration and to protect the well-being of our patrons and staff against the coronavirus outbreak, we have decided to close all Summit County Library branches starting Friday, March 13th, at 4 PM, until further notice. We will continue to update our website and social media channels as information becomes available.

Library Resources Available During Closure

Digital Resources: Online services are available at https://www.thesummitcountylibrary.org/databases for cardholders, including a large collection of digital materials such as books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and television shows, as well as research tools for online learning. You can sign up for a card on our website at https://borrow.summitcounty.org:8445/onlineBorrowerRegistration.html. If you register online, we will assign you temporary credentials so you can use our online resources. You will be emailed within a few days with a permanent card number and PIN.

Returns: Materials may still be returned to outside book drops at all locations. Librarians will work to check items in. Don’t worry if you’re unable to make it to the library or if you receive any overdue notices; we will renew any overdue materials in the interim.

Holds and the Henefer Remote Locker: All current hold items will be held at the branches until we reopen. In addition, the library maintains a system in Henefer that allows patrons to place items on hold for pickup at the locker. Since it does not require in-person contact to function, this system will remain in effect.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work through this unprecedented event. Our librarians will continue to provide support as needed. You may contact us https://www.thesummitcountylibrary.org/ask-librarian-form with questions and general guidance. If you need to speak directly to a librarian, please call 435-615-3900.

Motor Vehicles The DMV will be suspending counter service effective Monday. We will be providing services via phone & email, and as of now DMV services are still available in neighboring counties.
