Volunteer Opportunities

[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Opportunity – Regional Advisory Groups of the Summit County Open Space Advisory Committee

Summit County is seeking to fill twenty-one (21) vacancies on the Regional Advisory Groups of the Summit County Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC). The purpose of the Regional Advisory Groups is to involve the public in creating, prioritizing, adopting, and recommending Evaluation Standards to OSAC for open space and conservation easements. The Regional Committees also shall each recommend three (3) members for appointment to serve on OSAC. The purpose of OSAC is to serve the Public Interest by evaluating the Evaluation Standards recommended by each of the Regional Advisory Groups and adopting final Evaluation Standards for each Region. OSAC will also provide recommendations to the County Manager regarding the acquisition of passive and active open space, and conservation easements based on the approved Evaluation Standards with respect to the use of the 2022 Summit County Open Space General Obligation Bond passed by voters in the November 2021 election, and any subsequent countywide open space bonds. Meetings will be scheduled on a as-needed basis, and terms will be one (1) year for each Regional Advisory Committee and three (3) years for OSAC.

Summit County is specifically seeking seven (7) members from each area: 

1)West Summit Region: 

•One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of Park City.

•One (1) representative who resides within the boundaries of the unincorporated Snyderville Basin. 

•Five (5) at-large community representatives who reside in West Summit. 

2)North Summit Region; 

•One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of Coalville City.

 •One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of the Town of Henefer.

 •One (1) representative who resides within the boundaries of the unincorporated area of North Summit. 

•Four (4) at-large community representatives who reside in North Summit.

3) South Summit Region;

•One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of Kamas City. 

•One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of Oakley City. 

•One (1) representative who resides within the incorporated boundaries of Francis City. 

•One (1) representative who resides within the boundaries of the unincorporated area of South Summit.

•Three (3) at-large community representatives who reside in South Summit. 

Community representatives wishing to fill an at-large position may be given preference for having knowledge and experience related to agriculture, natural resources, or recreation.
