Lisa grew up in the greater Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area along the Chesapeake Bay, an area where urban and rural environments are knit together. These environments sparked her interest to pursue a B.A. in urban studies, a B.F.A. in sculpture, and her work as a teacher. It is in-between the edges of ecosystems that the taproot of her inspirations reside and propel her experiments within the world, within art.
As an artist and educator, she uses art as a vehicle to highlight the beauty of the ordinary and connect unlikely people through a shared experience. The notion of bringing strangers together, opening people to new experiences and new ways of looking at the world is the gift within art that she pursues.
